Alexa's Mama is in Hawaii - day four

We've had another good day but it followed a tough night.

MiMi doesn't know what bothered the little one's sleep but she was up at 10:30 last night and after several trys at putting her back down without success MiMi finally let her cry herself to sleep - it took all of 2 minutes. But then she was back up at 5 minutes past midnight. Now, for a MiMi that had to be up at 6ish to get ready for work this morning that was really tough. After trying to get her down a couple of times MiMi succumbed to giving Alexa the paci for the night. Sure enough that calmed her right down and she was back to sleep and tucked in by 12:30. Man, 6:15 came really quickly for MiMi. We were still able to get ready and leave for work on time!!

Tonight we ate supper with Grandpa & Grace at Bo's Restaurant in Inman. As usual, Alexa didn't find much she didn't like - oh wait - I should say Alexa didn't find anything she didn't like!! She ate chicken stew, sweet potato, cole slaw, hush puppies and towards the end of supper she began dipping her hush puppies in the chicken stew - how hysterical! Unfortunately MiMi didn't think to take the camera with us so no cute pictures tonight! :(

Today when I picked Alexa up from daycare Miss Andy proudly told me Alexa said her name! Alexa said it for us a couple of times tonight and then said "Grace" at supper. And there was one more new word tonight - she told Gabe (the cat) "night night" before she went to bed!

Speaking of bed, Pop and MiMi are hopeful she'll sleep all night and therefore we'll sleep all night!

We were excited to hear Mama and Linds got to hike Diamond Head today! Sounds like great fun! Alexa sends her love to Mama in Hawaii!

Love,
Alexa, MiMi and Pop

Sunny Weather!

The clouds have broken and the sun is shining!! :) Lindsey and I are getting ready to go hike diamond head!! YIPPEE!!! I can't wait. Linds says that the hike isn't all that great because of all the people, but the view from the top is totally worth it. The sky is pretty clear so we are going to go for it! Hopefully I'll have some pics to post later!!

Day 3 in Hawaii

So far my time here has been very enjoyable...and very relaxing. The last several months have been kind of rough on me, so I am super glad for a break. I really miss Alexa, but I know she is being well taken care of. I have to say how super proud I am of Mimi for posting every day so far...and not only that, but for posting pictures every day! We finally took some pictures here today, and I'll get to those in a minute.

My first day here was a bit of a challenge for me...just because the flight was so long, and I got kind of sick. After I landed we came back to the apartment and I freshened up and we went to Matt and Val's apartment for dinner. I stayed up as late as possible to try and get my body on Hawaii time, but I still managed to wake up at 7 the next morning.

Then yesterday we went to Ala Moana...one of the most awesome malls ever! I love it because it's open air, so that in and of itself just makes it awesome...but then when you add all the designer stores it completes the package. I did much better than last time!! Although we did stop in a few of the designer stores...and I have to admit I really wanted the Burberry raincoat that was on sale, all I bought was some shampoo and conditioner at Aveda, and 3 shirts that were on sale at Gap. Lindsey also got some winter clothing for their upcoming trip to Montana. After we went into seemingly every store there it was time to come home. I was basically exhausted, so we decided to call it a night and just have grilled cheese and tomato soup at home.

Then today we went to the outlet malls...again, lots of tempting designers...I found a Coach purse on a really good sale and I almost bought it, but then I decided not to. I got a really cute skirt at Armani, a pair of jeans at Banana, and a shirt at Charlotte Russe. Everything was on a super sale!! :) Then we rode up to North Shore. We stopped to see the sea turtles, but they were not cooperating, so we drove on up to Ted's Bakery to get a piece of chocolate coconut pie...Lindsey said it's the best! After tasting it...it's ok, but nothing to write home about...LOL! Then we headed back to the apartment. Our original plan was to eat at the shrimp trucks, but due to the drizzle we decided that maybe wasn't such a good idea. We talked to a friend about meeting for dinner, but after several obstacles we decided tonight just didn't work. So, we are supposed to go out downtown tomorrow night. I am really excited about it!! :)

On a sad note...we found out today that we are going to be short a vehicle for the rest of my stay. :( Lindsey and Sev's friend JD was waiting to have his car shipped home to Oregon so we were using it until the 7th. Well, when his wife called to check on it today she found out they could have it shipped sooner so Lindsey and Sev just left a little while ago to take it to his brother. They are shipping it tomorrow. Not a big deal though, we will work something out!!

Unfortunatley due to the weather I didn't get a bunch of great pictures today, but I did get a few.

This is Linds and Sev at Matt and Val's house...we had a great time and Matt made some AWESOME food!

This is us today...trying to take a picture and in true Lindsey fashion she had to be funny for the first one. I of course didn't realize she was doing it until I saw the preview...and then I was like AAAHHHH LINDSEY!!! Then we both just busted out laughing...LOL!

This was the final one we decided on...we both liked or at least were so sick of taking pictures that we agreed this one was ok. We really need to hire someone to just follow us around and take pictures!! :)

This was the view where we stopped to look for sea turtles...unfortunately we didn't see any, but the rainbow we had been watching for several miles was just so pretty with the island scene in front of it.

Here is another view of the rainbow...like I said, we watched it for miles, but I couldn't get a good picture of it from the car.

I hope everyone enjoys the pictures...and hopefully the weather will be better the next time we get to go exploring and I will get some better pictures!!

Alexa's Mama is in Hawaii - day three

Day three has gone well. Mimi and Alexa made it to daycare and work on time and later returned home to a yummy pot of home made soup (thanks to Pop) and a great surprise of Grandpa & Grace, Uncle Jerry, Aunt Jodi & Uncle Brad and of course Alexa's favorite cousin Walker coming to eat supper with us. After supper the babies played and played! They are both such sweet babies and it's obvious they love being together. They both had a good time playing the piano but you'll have to go to Aunt Jodi's blog, Backporch Reflections, to see those.

It was good to see everyone and Pop's soup was just the right supper for such a cold night! Thanks Pop for making the soup!!

Soon it was time to tell everyone good bye as they headed home for the night.

Alexa talked to Mama, well really mostly listened to Mama, and polished off her sippy cup of milk before falling asleep rocking in MiMi's lap.

Good night Alexa. Good night Autumn. Good night Lindsey & Sev. Good night Grandpa and Grace. Good night Aunt Jodi, Uncle Brad and Walker. Good night Uncle Jerry. Good night Pop. Good night Mimi. (I almost said "Good night, John Boy :) for those of you old enough to remember "The Waltons")

We wish everyone a good night!

Love,

Mimi, Alexa & Pop

Don't you think they fit good?

I really can do it myself!

Walker thinks MiMi needs some help cleaning out her Magazine basket!

Alexa and Walker both enjoy Grace reading to them.

Have you ever seen such a cute tiger? Yes, we're still fans, even after the loss in the Chic-fil-A Bowl!

Alexa's Mama is in Hawaii - day two

We've made it through day two of Alexa's Mama being in Hawaii without any major mishaps of shake ups here at home! Alexa had a good night last night which of course means MiMi and Pop had a good night too. Then MiMi and Alexa carried through with the plan this morning for MiMi to get ready for work before waking Alexa up. Of course, it helped that MiMi had breakfast of milk and oatmeal ready and waiting on the sleepy and hungry girl.

After getting home this evening Uncle Jerry came over and brought a yummy supper of Chinese food which everyone enjoyed, especially Alexa as she devoured the chicken, broccoli and baby corn that Jerry kept adding to her plate. But, when she's done she's done and tonight she took a page out of Walker's book by starting to drop food, actually push food off her highchair tray, on to the floor when she had enough. Later she helped MiMi clean it up, though, so all is good.

After supper came bath time with the momma duck & 2 baby ducks she got for Christmas!

Then it was on to playing in the den and fighting Gabe, the cat, for her big stuffed duck and with some very good effort on her part Alexa won, at least for the moment. It continues to amaze me how loving Gabe is to Alexa, especially since he was never around children much before the arrival of Alexa and Walker - but he doesn't seem to mind them invading his territory at all!

Alexa and Jerry shared some popcorn tonight and for once she didn't get more than her fair share, in fact, she didn't seem too hungry at all and she and Jerry both gave up before they finished the bowl.

Thanks to Jerry both for supper and for helping out with Alexa patrol so MiMi could work on another quilt square while Pop was at Prayer Meeting and then the Pastor search committee meeting he goes to every Wednesday night. Please pray for our Pastor search committee as they continue to seek God's will for our church.

During the sewing and pressing of the quilt square MiMi missed Autumn's call to tell Alexa good night but Autumn called back and told Alexa how much she loves and misses her! Alexa was all ears for her Mama's voice!

About 9 pm we got some milk ready and Uncle Jerry held Alexa while she drank it down, but, when it was finished she wanted her MiMi to rock her for just a little while before going to bed. Then after a good night kiss to Jerry & Pop MiMi tucked her in and said a little prayer for both Alexa and Walker.

So, we're well in to night number two, hope it's as good as night number one!

We hope you're having a good time with Lindsey & Sev and enjoying the warm weather of Hawaii, Autumn. We'll update you again tomorrow!

Love,
Alexa, MiMi and Pop

Alexa fighting Gabe for the duck - we only caught a glimpse of his tail as he jumped to safety as she was pulling the duck out from under him. MiMi's not quite fast enough with the camera :)

Greetings from the rock!

Hello all, I am sitting in the floor at Lindsey's apartment! I got in today around 3:45, and the flight was a bit rough...but oh well. Lindsey met me at the airport and we came to her apartment for a little bit so I could freshen up...then we went to her friend Val's apartment to finish watching the Hawaii, Georgia game. Val's husband Matt cooked dinner for all of us and it was GREAT! We are now getting ready to go to bed...and believe me I am EXHAUSTED! I have been up for almost 24 hours straight, and I only got about 3 hours of sleep the night before.

I will try to get some good pictures tomorrow and post them...I am so proud of Mimi, not only for taking pictures of Alexa today, but for posting them asap! She promised me she would take some and blog while I was gone, but I was not expecting a post today. Thank you so much Mimi, it was so nice to see such cute pictures of my baby Alexa pie today when I got here!

Well, I'm off to bed now...more from "paradise" tomorrow! Love you all!

Alexa's Mama is in Hawaii - day one

Alexa's first taste of collard greens - yummy!

Mimi - please don't tickle me any more....and yes, that's my quilt I'm on!!

Rock Rock on the catepillar

Music anyone?

Alexa "riding" the 8 pack of paper towels...how creative :)

This New Years Day started with rising early to get Autumn (aka Alexa's Mama) to the airport and a last moment of yum-yums (nursing) before we headed out at 4:36. Alexa did well, in fact better than Autumn and Mimi who both had tears in their eyes when it was time for Autumn to go through the check in process. Then Mimi and Alexa headed back down the mountain to a sleeping Pop. Alexa had breakfast on her mind so Mimi and Alexa hit the kitchen for some oatmeal and then play time ensued until Pop woke up. Mimi and Alexa called to wish Walker (Walk-Walk as Alexa calls the cousin she loves so much) a Happy New Year! Then it was nap time for the little one, even though she had taken a quick nap on the way down the mountain and Mimi got to spend some time working on quilt squares on her new Bernina sewing maching!! A little later Mimi and Pop got lunch ready and Grandpa and Grace came and joined us for black-eyed peas and ham, collard greens and spinach corn bread followed by a delicious pineapple pudding cake Grace made for us. Alexa had her first taste of collard greens and seemed to enjoy them much more than the peas, so Mama it looks like she covered you for the whole peas for pennies and collard greens for dollars in the coming year!! :)
After lunch Alexa began getting sleepy again (so did Mimi) so Alexa went down for her second nap and Mimi got a nap too! After a pretty long nap for both tired girls Alexa woke up and had a bath and it's been playtime ever since with a short break for supper. We've had a good first day of 2008 and we hope Mama has a good time in Hawaii and is pleasantly surprised by the pictures (above) showing some of the highlights of Alexa's day!
Happy New Year to everyone - we wish everyone good health and good fortune in the coming months. Let's all try to make a positive contribution to the world we live in!
Alexa's Mimi
And, yes, can you tell this is my first time to blog - sorry but I couldn't figure out how to get the pictures at the bottom of the post....maybe Autumn will clue me in! :)
